Recreation

Lots to do in Whitehall

Recreation

Whitehall has so much do do in the area of Recreation.  There are 30 different recreation areas throughout the township.  Many of these areas of recreation depend on volunteers and funding from our community and the township.  The townships budget for recreation is $1,200,000.

  •  A Review of the $1,200,000 budget and our recreational assets.
  • Plan for the future by updating the 2004 Recreation Plan.
  • Revise and increase the Recreation fees charged to developers, these funds currently provide funds for our parks and playgrounds.
  • Rails to Trails is one of our highlights and most accessed by our residents.  It is important to continue seeking grants to both maintain and upgrade.
  • Recreation can unify our community by exploring a Central Recreation Center.  It will provide that community feeling for all ages.
  • Of our three pools, two of which will not be opened due to repairs and maintenance costing in excess of $2,000,000.  These dollars could be spent elsewhere by providing a dog park or sprinkler park for kids.  Better options need to be evaluated.

Please vote for Ken Snyder, Recreation is one of my top priorities.
